The rash of positive COVID-19 tests at the University of Florida with the Gators football program has had rippling effects with schedules across the Southeastern Conference, notably at the University of Missouri.
The SEC, on Friday morning, announced that the Tigers will be flipping their games against Kentucky and Florida. The Tigers matchup with Kentucky, originally scheduled for Halloween, will now be played at Memorial Stadium in Columbia at 3 o’clock on Saturday, October 24th, with Mizzou’s trip to Gainesville to play Florida moved to Saturday, October 31st at 6:30 PM. The UK at MU game will be televised on the SEC Network, with the Tigers game at Florida on the SEC Network’s Alternate channel.
The move, for Kentucky, will push the Wildcats game at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington against the Georgia Bulldogs to Halloween, kicking off at 11 AM on the SEC Network. Florida has had as many as 19 players testing positive for the coronavirus, pausing team workouts on Tuesday, October 13th. Two assistant coaches tested positive at that time as well, while head coach Dan Mullen tested positive on Saturday morning.
Florida’s October 17th game against LSU was postponed and will be rescheduled for Saturday, December 12th. Also on that day, Missouri will host the Vanderbilt Commodores. That game was originally scheduled this past Saturday (October 17th), but moved due to COVID-19 cases with the Commodores program. On October 10th, Vanderbilt had lost to South Carolina with a limited roster, dressing just 56 scholarship players.
