Mizzou’s junior wide receiver, Mookie Cooper, hailing from St. Louis, will be returning for a fourth season with the Tigers in 2024, as announced in a video on Monday. Cooper, who transferred from Ohio State and redshirted in 2020, achieved career bests in receptions and yards in 2023, mGrayaking 34 catches for 429 yards. He plans to face his former team in the Cotton Bowl before playing another season for Mizzou, with the option for an additional year of eligibility after the 2024 season.
The Tigers also revealed a contract extension for offensive coordinator Kirby Moore on Thursday, indicating continuity in their productive offense. If senior Theo Wease Jr. opts for his final year of eligibility, Mizzou could retain its entire receiving corps, potentially making it one of the nation’s most formidable. The team is set to welcome four-star freshmen Courtney Crutchfield and James Madison II.
In 2023, Missouri’s wide receivers, including Cooper, contributed significantly to quarterback Brady Cook and the offense, recording 2,766 yards as a unit.
Rock Bridge High School linebacker Grayson Cutchlow, after a standout all-state career, announced on Tuesday that he committed to Mizzou as a preferred walk-on. Cutchlow, a 6-foot-3, 220-pounder, was a defensive leader for Rock Bridge, earning first team all-state honors. Despite being rated as a two-star prospect by 247Sports, he showcased high-level potential with impressive stats, choosing to walk on at Missouri over scholarship offers from schools like Arkansas, Ball State, and Dartmouth.
Former Mizzou quarterback Gabarri Johnson, a highly touted recruit, has transferred to Oregon State after spending his true freshman season with the Tigers. The 5-foot-10 signal-caller, unable to secure playing time at Mizzou, returns closer to home. Johnson’s move comes after the Beavers lost their top two quarterbacks to the transfer portal, providing him an opportunity for a fresh start.
