The #2 seed Bishop LeBlond Golden Eagles rode a 20 point night from senior point guard Jack Harvey, that included five three-point shots, to a 56-42 Class 3, District 16 quarterfinal win over Trenton on Wednesday night in Hamilton.
The Eagles jumped on the Bulldogs early, leading 14-4 after the first quarter, but the opening minutes of the second quarter saw the 7th-seeded Bulldogs spring to life, with a spirited rally bringing THS to within 21-19. However, LeBlond scored the final seven points of the half, and dominated play in the third quarter, ending Trenton’s upset hopes.
Sean Davis had 14 points for the Eagles, who will play the host Penney Hornets in Friday’s semifinal round. In his final game as a Trenton Bulldog, Lathan Croy had 12 points, as Trenton ends its season at 14-12. In Wednesday’s quarterfinal round, Penney hammered South Harrison by a score of 74-45.
The top-seeded Maryville Spoofhounds will play East Buchanan in a Friday boys semifinal. The Spoofhounds rolled past Brookfield 68-33, while the Bulldogs edged KCI rival Lathrop 48-45, behind 16 points from sophomore Ethan Kilgore.
