The Chillicothe Lady Hornets broke open a tight game by outscoring MEC rival Savannah 16-8 over the final quarter, with Darren Smith’s team winning the Cameron Tournament championship game, 59-49 on Saturday afternoon. Hunter Keithley and Jordan Hibner both tallied 16 points for the Lady Hornets, with Kennedie Kieffer scoring 11 points.
The result for the Hornet boys went the other direction, as the Hornets were defeated by the Maryville Spoofhounds in the Cameron final, 60-47. Tate Oglesby had a game-high 26 points for the ‘Hounds, with Eli Dowis scoring 13, and Tyler Houchin nine points. Jack Willard had 10 points and C.J. Pfaff nine for the Hornets.
On Friday night at Cameron High School, Higginsville beat Cameron in the 7th place game, 53-51, with Smithville winning the consolation final, against Excelsior Springs, 75-68. On the girls side, Cameron beat Bishop LeBlond 38-36 in the 7th place game.
