The Chillicothe Lady Hornets hit the road on Thursday night, traveling to Boonville to battle the state-ranked (MBCA Class 3, #10) Lady Pirates. In perhaps the program’s best victory of the season, Chillicothe rode the combination of hot perimeter shooting and stout Darren Smith coached defense to a 53-46 win.
After starting slowly, a second quarter run by the Lady Hornets pulled Chillicothe back to the even mark with Boonville, with CHS taking the advantage after trailing by one point through three quarters. The Chillicothe girls outscored Boonville in the final quarter, 12-4.
Hunter Keithley led Chillicothe with 17 points, with Jordan Hibner adding 14, and Kennedie Kieffer 10.
In CLAA action, the Southwest Livingston girls won at Tina-Avalon 56-36, with Kortlyn Rounkles leading the Lady Wildcats (11-1, 7-0) with 17 points, Colee Webb 16, and Kaylie Campbell with 10 points. Tina-Avalon had Aleeya Heussner with 12 points and Hannah Colliver with 11. The Southwest Livingston boys won at Tina-Avalon by a score of 70-37, with Mack Anderson scoring 25 and Wyatt Maddux 19 for the Wildcats.
