Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker, coming off of his second five field goal game of the season, has been named the AFC special teams player of the week on Wednesday. Butker, since joining the AFC West-leading Chiefs, has hit 18-of-19 field goals. He arrived as an injury replacement for Cairo Santos, who hurt his groin in a victory in Los Angeles against the Chargers.
Butker is a product of Georgia Tech who was picked in the 7th round of April’s draft by the Carolina Panthers. After losing a training camp battle to veteran Graham Gano, Butker was kept on the Carolina active roster for one week, but let go after injuries hit the team.
