The Kansas City Chiefs, according to a report from the German newspaper Bild, are expected to play a regular season game on German soil not only in the 2023 season, but also in 2024.
Numerous reports throughout the early spring have indicated that the NFL is leaning toward matching up the Chiefs with the Chicago Bears during the upcoming (2023) season, with the game to be played on either November 12th or November 19th. Bild’s reporting indicated that whichever date does not go to the Chiefs and Bears will go to the New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints, with that game also in Frankfurt.
The Buccaneers and Seahawks played last season in Munich last year, with that city expected to host a Kansas City game in 2024. Bild identified the Carolina Panthers as the 2024 opponent for the Chiefs. That scenario would make sense, as the AFC West and NFC South teams will match-up in cross-over conference play in 2024. The game, if it stayed stateside, would be played in Charlotte, meaning that Kansas City will not lose a game at Arrowhead Stadium that season.
A full-release of the NFL’s 2023 regular season schedule is scheduled for this Thursday night, May 11th. Among the announcements will be the Chiefs Thursday night opening opponent in Week #1, and an anticipated all-New York battle between the Jets and Giants on the Monday Night Football opener four nights later.
