The Kansas City Chiefs remain uncertain as to whether All-Pro quarterback Patrick Mahomes will play on Sunday, when KC hosts Buffalo in the AFC Championship Game.
Mahomes was felled in Sunday’s 22-17 divisional round win over Cleveland, when linebacker Mack Wilson tackled him midway through the third quarter, leaving the Texas Tech product with concussion symptoms. Chad Henne replaced Mahomes, and led the Chiefs to the second-round victory.
Head coach Andy Reid sounded somewhat optimistic about Mahomes status after the game saying, “He got hit in the back of the head, and it kind of knocked the wind out of him. He’s doing great right now, which is a real positive….We’ll see where it goes from here.”
Kansas City, on Sunday night, will host the AFC Championship Game for the third year in a row, a first in the history of the conference that began life as the old AFL in 1960. The Bills are in the AFC Championship Game for the first time since beating Kansas City in January 1994.
