The Kansas City Chiefs, having lost veteran wide receivers Mecole Hardman and JuJu Smith-Schuster in free agency, were in need of providing depth to the receiving room going into the NFL Draft, and made a positive step in that direction on Friday, re-signing Justin Watson to a two-year contract. The Chiefs will have ten selections for the draft, headed to Kansas City’s Union Station from Thursday, April 27th through Saturday, April 29th.
Last season, Watson had 15 catches for Kansas City, but averaged an impressive 21 yards per catch, leaving the Kansas City brass to believe those numbers could blossom with increased playing time in 2023.
With receivers expected to be targeted by the Chiefs in the draft, Kansas City lost Hardman to the New York Jets and Smith-Schuster to the New England Patriots shortly after the Super Bowl 57 victory over the the Philadelphia Eagles.
