Chastain takes NASCAR win in Music City

Nascar

Ross Chastain, known for his aggressive and sometimes criticized driving style, proved his critics wrong by winning the Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway. It was his first victory in over a year and the third win of his NASCAR Cup Series career.

Chastain acknowledged the criticism he has faced but credited his team’s belief in him for keeping him motivated. He expressed gratitude for the support and the “rocket ships” that his team provides, and he aims to guide them to victory lane.

This win marked Chastain’s first victory since Talladega in April 2022. He piloted his Trackhouse Racing Chevrolet to the team’s first win of the year at their home track. Notably, Chastain secured his first career pole position in this race.

Trackhouse owner Justin Marks sought advice from Rick Hendrick and Roger Penske on how to handle a driver with Chastain’s aggressive style. Marks compared Chastain’s learning curve to that of other successful drivers like Brad Keselowski, Kevin Harvick, and Tony Stewart, who had to adapt to the demands of competing in the Cup level. Marks sees this win as a significant moment for Trackhouse and a testament to the team’s bright future.

Chastain entered the race in fourth place in the season points standings and led the most laps in the event, including the final 34 laps. He had to navigate through slower traffic to hold off Martin Truex Jr., ultimately winning by a margin of 0.789 seconds.
