The Trenton Lady Bulldogs, runner-up in Class 2, District 15 after a 2-1 loss six days ago to Penney High School, remain well-represented in the All-District honors, a tip of the hat to a squad that went 22-3 in steamrolling much of their competition over a seven-week stretch.
Three pitchers were named to the first team, including a pair that matched up in the district final, with Penney freshman Julia Kanoy and Trenton junior Ainsley Tolson joined by Lexington junior Colby Crabtree.
Both catchers from the district final were named first-team, with Trenton junior Salem Croy joining Penney sophomore Ali Trosper.
Seven infielders made first-team status, with Trenton juniors Mykah Hurley and Sidney Lynch joined by sophomore teammate Lexi Whitaker. Sophomores Gillian Gibler and Graycen Prothero from the district champion Penney Lady Hornets are in the team, along with Lexington senior Katy Payne and South Harrison freshman Riley McChesney.
Trenton freshman center fielder Maci Moore is joined by two seniors in the first-team outfield, with Penney’s MccKauley Prothero and Carrollton’s Kayla Encisco earning those spots.
Lexington High School senior Laci Philips is the All-District 15 utility first-teamer.
One Trenton player was named All-District 15 second team, as junior outfielder Taylor Richman is joined by South Harrison junior outfielder Madisyn Lisle. The second-team infield finds South Harrison sophomore Kooper Jennings, Penney senior Mati Park, Lexington junior Chandler Himbury, and South Harrison junior Emily Starmer.
Second-team all-district pitchers are Carrollton sophomore Racelyn Mathis and LeBlond senior Maddisyn Gerhardt.
After winning the District 15 title at Trenton, Penney won its sectional game against Macon, 8-2 on Wednesday night, sending the Lady Hornets into a Class 2 state quarterfinal showdown on Saturday morning at Lathrop. First pitch between the Lady Hornets and Lady Mules is slated for 11 o’clock.
