The highly-anticipated matchup of the Lawson Cardinals and Lafayette County (Higginsville) Huskers is set for tonight (Friday night) at 7:30, after both teams passed semifinal tests on Thursday night.
In the Class 3, District 15 semifinals, the state-ranked Cardinals moved to 22-2 on the season, with a 66-24 blowout of Carrollton. With the Cardinals safely into the final, the second semifinal matched #2 seed Lafayette County and #3 seed St. Paul Lutheran. Playing on their home floor, the Huskers survived against the Saints, winning 64-59.
BOTH championship games in District 15 will be tonight, as the Lawson Lady Cardinals play Richmond at 5:30, followed by the Lawson-Higginsville boys game at 7:30. Both games will be played at Lafayette County High School in Higginsville. The winners advance to Class 3 sectional action on Wednesday night at Excelsior Springs, playing the District 16 (Lathrop) champions at 6 PM (boys) and 7:45 PM (girls).
