The visiting Cameron Dragons broke open a tight game with nine consecutive runs over four innings, in a 13-4 win over the Trenton Bulldogs on Tuesday afternoon at Burleigh Grimes Field.
Both teams scored a first-inning run, leaving the game tied at 1 before Cameron scored five runs in the top of the 3rd inning, getting to THS starting pitcher Jesse Farmer. Farmer, who absorbed the loss, went three innings, giving up four hits and six runs (five earned), along with five walks and a strikeout. Sam Schilling went the middle three innings while Avery Cooksey pitched the 7th for Trenton. The Bulldogs continued a trend of struggling in the field, committing five errors in the game.
For the Trenton offense, Hunter Dugan, hitting in the leadoff spot, scored twice with a 1-for-2, two walk afternoon. Avery Cooksey had a single and walk in four at-bats, while Colton Colston was 2-for-3 with one run scored.
Cameron fired four pitchers at the Trenton offense, striking out 12 batters over the seven innings. Starting pitcher Dunscombe went the first four innings for the Dragons, giving up three hits and an unearned run.
Trenton, now 6-5 in the Bulldogs first season of spring baseball, will host the Green City Gophers on Thursday afternoon at 4:30 from Burleigh Grimes Field.
