As part of the Grand River Conference’s crossover baseball games on Thursday afternoon, North Andrew traveled to Burleigh Grimes Field in Trenton for a battle of “6 seeds” from the eastern and western divisions between the Cardinals and the Bulldogs.
In one of the strongest performances of their season, THS hammered North Andrew, scoring five runs in the opening inning and never looking back, racing to a 13-3 five-inning win.
Elijah Miller went three innings for Trenton, allowing just four hits and a run while striking out eight batters. Brayden Wiggins twirled the final two innings.
The Bulldogs had a 3-for-4, two run game out of the leadoff spot from Mason Rongey. Miller was 2 for 3, while Sam Gibson was 3 for 3 with a pair of RBI’s and two runs scored. Gavin Cagle, hitting out of the 7 hole, had a pair of base hits.
The St. Joseph Christian Lions won the GRC championship game, winning at Princeton 6-2. Other GRC crossover results were Putnam County over Albany 7-1, Maysville over Pattonsburg 9-0, Polo with a 4-0 win over North Harrison, and South Harrison outslugging King City 9-7.

Polo finished GRC regular season action at Trenton on Monday, taking a 4-1 win over the Bulldogs. Starting pitcher Gilbert struck out 12 batters for the Panthers, while Rongey, pitching for Trenton, scattered 13 hits over seven innings, striking out six.
Claypole and Ross had three hits each for Polo, with Rongey racking up three hits, with Wiggins and Weyer two each for THS.
