Trenton edged Gallatin to win the Grand River Conference boys wrestling tournament on Saturday at Polo High School.
Trenton scored 156 points, six more than Gallatin’s 150. Third-place South Harrison had 106 points, followed by Maysville at 90 1/2, Polo at 63 1/2, North Andrew 44, Albany 42, and Stanberry 28 points.
The champions were Mattox Sybert of North Andrew at 106 pounds, Koan Miehmichael of South Harrison the only wrestler at 113 pounds, Mason Hamilton of South Harrison at 120 pounds, Dawson Fansher of North Andrew at 126, Brayden Hughs of Trenton at 132, Hunter McAtee of Trenton at 138, Reggie Arnold of Gallatin at 145, Coleman Griffin of Trenton at 152, Rodell Sperry of Gallatin at 160, Jagger Gray of Gallatin at 170, Logan Bottcher of Gallatin at 192, Sam Gibson of Trenton at 195, Caleb Johnson of Trenton at 220, and Gabe Parker of Gallatin at heavyweight.
Placing second for Trenton were Mason Rongey at 126, Gavin Chambers at 145, and Gavin Cagle at heavyweight.
Polo won the GRC girls wrestling championships held in their home gymnasium on Saturday. The Lady Panthers accumulated 30 points, more than double of runner-up South Harrison’s 12. Third place North Andrew had nine points, Gallatin six, and Trenton four. Albany, Maysville, and Stanberry finished scoreless.
There were seven weight classes in which there were more than one wrestler. Polo won five of those classes —- Melissa Perez at 120 pounds, Kenley Moore at 130, Valorie Gabrielli at 149, Malia Bell at 159, and Mesa Welch at 194 pounds.
Other champions in weight classes featuring on-mat competition were Jaylee Booher of South Harrison at 115, and Jaclyn Riedinger of North Andrew at 125 pounds.
Girls who were the only person in their weight class were Celeste Harris of Polo at 110 pounds, Avery Clark of Trenton at 141, Kaydence Clevenger of Gallatin at 174, and Jacey Hudson of Trenton at 235.
There were no entries at 105 pounds in the girls GRC Tournament.
