The Trenton High School basketball teams earned a pair of victories on Monday night, giving Kameron Cool and Corbin Coe their first as coaches at THS, in the opening night of the 43rd annual Gallatin Invitational Tournament.
The Lady Bulldogs jumped on Gilman City early, rolling to a 23-6 lead after the first quarter, and cruising to a 75-31 win. Maci Moore had 31 points and Lexi Whitaker 21 for Trenton, now 1-1 on the season. Jolee Ward had 19 points for 0-2 Gilman City.
In other girls quarterfinal results from Gallatin High School, the Hardin-Central Lady Bulldogs hammered Winston 69-22, with Braymer, on Tuesday night, doubling up Gallatin 64-32, while Polo swung the 5 over 4 seed upset of Maysville 58-43.
The Trenton boys picked up 20 points each from Royce Jackson and Chase Otto, in addition to 18 points on six made three-point field goals by Brycin Loyd, in a 69-54 win over Hardin-Central. The win advances #3 seed Trenton into a semifinal meeting with #2 seed Winston on Thursday night at 8:15 (KTTN FM 92.3). Winston advanced with a 62-34 win over Braymer, with Jacob Uthe scoring 23 points and Jakub Hisel 14 for the Redbirds.
The Gallatin boys cruised past Gilman City on Tuesday night 77-14, while the Polo Panthers took down the Maysville Wolverines, 49-35.
