The Trenton Bulldog football team began preparation for the 2020 season on Monday morning, with the first practice in preparation for two non-conference games with Brookfield and East Buchanan, followed by a seven-game jaunt through the Grand River Conference.
Coming off a 2-8 season under coach Kevin Hixson, Trenton is looking to move back up the GRC hierarchy this fall, but needing to get that improvement from a group that looks to total in the mid to upper 30’s numbers-wise.
PAR Broadcast Group Sports Director Tom Johnson spoke with Coach Hixson after Tuesday morning’s practice session outside Trenton High School:
In past years, Trenton had the unenviable task of taking on a powerhouse Lathrop program to open the season, bringing lumps and struggles on the scoreboard more often than not. This season, an opening developed with an old rival, as former Bulldog running back Scott Stevens brings his Brookfield Bulldogs to C.F. Russell Stadium on Friday, August 28th to tangle with THS in the season opener:
While possibly not as physically challenging as the Lexington squads the Bulldogs have dealt with in Week 2 in past years, a strong KCI program that enjoys the passing game will be the opponent for THS this year, with a road trip to Gower to face the East Buchanan Bulldogs. The Princeton Tigers will host Trenton in the GRC opener in the third week of the regular season.
All of Trenton’s games this fall will be broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7, with streaming audio from KTTNSports.com.
