The Trenton Bulldogs improved to 2-1 on the boys tennis season with a 5-4 triumph over the Bishop LeBlond Golden Eagles on Thursday afternoon.
The teams split the singles competition, with both schools taking three victories against one another. Trenton won two doubles matches compared to one for the Golden Eagles.
Trenton’s #1 and #2 doubles teams had strong performances, with Victor Markell and Isaac Dixon taking a 8-4 victory over Cole Stevenson and Tripp Helsel at #1, with Bradyn Sager and Jacob White combining for an 8-2 win over Hawkins Ideker and Carson Staggs at #2. The #3 doubles match went to the Eagles entry of Brady Rocha and Satchel Studer, by an 8-5 score over Garrison Otto and Henry Lasley of Trenton.
In singles competition, Trenton’s #1 entry, Bradyn Sager, doubled up LeBlond’s Stevenson 8-4. Helsel of the Golden Eagles won the #2 battle over Trenton’s Markell 9-7. At #3 singles, Dixon of the Bulldogs had a strong 8-3 win over Ideker.
The #4 singles match saw LeBlond’s Carson Staggs claim a forfeit win over Otto. The #5 singles duel went to Trenton’s White over LeBlond’s Rocha in an 8-1 rout. At #6 singles, Studer of LeBlond edged Horton of THS 8-6.
In junior varsity singles competition, LeBlond’s Bryson Fox swept three matches, downing Horton 6-3, Lasley 6-3, and Ryeland Kirk 6-2.
