The Grand River Conference has named first and second team softball selections and honorable mention picks for the 2024 season.
Eleven players earned first-team All-GRC honors, with six of those named unanimously. Those six are Trenton junior Kaylor Hodge, the Gallatin tandem of senior Karydon Jones and junior Brynn Bird, Marceline senior Finley Watson, Putnam County’s Allise Perkins, and South Harrison’s Bailey Barnett.
That group was joined on the GRC first team by Brookfield’s Hadlye Sackrey, Milan’s Emerson Pauley, Polo’s Mya Heil, South Harrison’s Ambrey Hunter, and Trenton’s Avery Clark.
All-GRC second team picks were Trenton’s Mirena King, South Harrison’s Rory Fitzgerald and Lexi Hunter, Putnam County’s Jenna Knowles, Polo’s Kendyl Fitzwater, Maysville’s Sophia Redman, Marceline’s Emerald Bloss and Kalli Barnett, Gallatin’s Tagen Eversole, and Brookfield’s Mya Sackrey.
All-GRC honorable mention selections were Gallatin’s Channing McBroom and Paige Heldenbrand, Brookfield’s Ashlyn Calvert, Marceline’s Camryn Burgener, Milan’s Amy Pickering, Polo’s Emily Schmidt, and South Harrison’s Ella Callaway.
In post-season action, Gallatin advanced to the Class 1 state semifinals this Friday (against Paris) with a district championship victory over La Plata. South Harrison won a district championship but lost 9-0 to Highland in Saturday’s Class 2 quarterfinal round in Bethany. Gallatin beat Polo 1-0 in the district finals, with South Harrison defeating Marceline in the district championship game in Trenton.
