The Big 12 Conference, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, includes 14 schools as of July 1, 2023

Big 12 releases 14-team football schedule for 2023

NCAA

With BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, and Central Florida entering, and Oklahoma and Texas remaining, the Big 12 Conference has released a football schedule for the 2023 season.  Unlike past seasons, when all schools in the conference played one another, each institution will miss playing four fellow Big 12 squads this fall.

A Big 12 Conference championship game will remain, to be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on December 3rd, matching up the top two teams in the final regular season standings.

Of the new four schools to enter the Big 12, the University of Houston will be the first to get a conference game, hosting TCU on September 16th.  Among the other newcomers, Central Florida plays at Kansas State on September 23rd, with BYU at Kansas and Oklahoma at Cincinnati on the same weekend.

Oklahoma and Texas will be leaving the Big 12 for the Southeastern Conference no later than July 1, 2025, which will move the Big 12 Conference back to 12 teams.  This year, the Sooners and Longhorns will play October 7th at the Cotton Bowl in Texas in their annual rivalry game.

Notable games for the four new squads include BYU at Texas on October 28th, with Oklahoma traveling to Provo to play the Cougars on November 28th.  BYU will host Cincinnati on Friday, September 29th.

Cincinnati will play host to Central Florida and travel to fellow newcomer Houston in back-to-back Saturdays to begin November.

Texas will renew its SWC rivalry with Houston on the Cougars home field on October 21st.  It will be the first meeting between the schools in 21 years.  Texas will not play UCF, Cincinnati, Oklahoma State, or West Virginia.  Oklahoma will avoid Baylor, Houston, Kansas State, and Texas Tech.
