The Big 12 has released the scheduling matrix for the upcoming 2023-24 Men’s Basketball season. Teams will play 18 Conference games, with five Big 12 opponents being faced twice, while the remaining eight conference opponents will be played once.
The selection of opponents was based on a combination of factors, including geography, historical results, and a poll of the coaches, to ensure a balanced schedule in terms of travel and competitiveness. A full Big 12 schedule will be made available at a later date.
Of note are the in-conference scheduling plans for the Big 12’s four newest members, with BYU not playing at Cincinnati, Houston, TCU, and Texas this season. UCF (Central Florida) will not play at Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, or Oklahoma, while Cincinnati avoids trips to Iowa State, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and Texas, while Houston will not play at Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, or West Virginia.
Kansas will welcome new conference foes Houston, BYU, and Cincinnati to Allen Fieldhouse, while traveling to Houston and UCF, while Kansas State will welcome BYU and UCF to Manhattan, while traveling to BYU, Cincinnati, and Houston.
In their final season as a Big 12 program, Oklahoma will play a home-and-away series with Cincinnati, while hosting BYU and Houston, and traveling to UCF. Texas will play a home-and-away series with the University of Houston, with Central Florida visiting Austin. The Longhorns will play at Cincinnati and BYU.
