College Football America’s Top 30 Yearbook has ranked Northwest Missouri State at #7 in NCAA Division II. Northwest is coming off an 11-2 season with an appearance in the national quarterfinals, reaching the D-II playoffs for the 17th consecutive season.
Northwest will be aiming to win the program’s 32nd MIAA championship this fall, and try to reach the national championship game for the 11th time. The Bearcats have six national championships (1998, 1999, 2009, 2013, 2015, 2016) and are a national best 52-19 all-time in the D-II playoffs.
Ferris State is ranked #1 in the preseason poll, followed by Shepherd, Valdosta State, Colorado School of Mines, Angelo State, and Bowie State. Trailing the Bearcats in the Top 10 are Grand Valley State at #8, followed by Notre Dame (Ohio) and West Georgia.
Northwest Missouri State will open the 2022 season hosting Fort Hays State on Thursday, September 1st at 7 o’clock at Bearcat Stadium in Maryville.
