The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats are the top ranked team in the country in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) preseason poll, one of three MIAA teams in the rankings. Three more conference squads start the year receiving votes.
The Bearcats put their #1 ranking on the line on Thursday night, September 1st, playing at #24 ranked Emporia State in a 7 o’clock kickoff. Central Missouri, ranked #20 in D-2, will play the Pittsburg State Gorillas, who received the third-most moves of teams not in the top 25.
Central Oklahoma and Fort Hays State are the other squads in the receiving votes categoy.
MIAA play starts for the entire conference at 7 o’clock on September 1st. The lone exception will be a 6 o’clock start for Northeastern State and Washburn that night in Topeka, Kansas.
