Northwest Missouri State dominated Saturday night’s MIAA rivalry matchup at Missouri Western, hammering the Griffons at Spratt Stadium in St. Joseph, 30-7. The win improves the Bearcats to 4-0 on the season, including a #2 ranking in the national poll, with Missouri Western falling to 2-3.
The game was a mismatch throughout, with the ‘Cats outgaining their nearby rivals to the south, 427-101, with the Griffons running attack racking up a paltry eight yards on 29 carries. Northwest’s defense had five sacks with 10 tackles for loss.
Senior running back Al McKeller had 171 yards on the ground for NWMSU, adding two touchdowns. Junior Davonte Green had 41 yards rushing, with quarterback Mike Hohensee throwing for 214 yards and two touchdowns on 12-of-16 accuracy.
