Major League Baseball has finalized dates for the 2021 postseason, with the latest potential date for a scheduled game being November 3rd for Game 7 of the World Series. The date represents the latest possible date on the prearranged schedule since 2009, when the Yankees beat the Phillies in the Fall Classic.
The MLB postseason will open with the American League Wild-Card game on October 5th, with the National League Wild-Card game on October 6th. The American League Division Series will start on October 7th, with the NLDS the following day.
Whichever of the pennant winners with the best record will host Game 1 of the World Series on October 26th.
In 2001 and 2009, a World Series game was played on November 4th, although the 2001 date was pushed back due to the mid-September delay to the season brought about by the September 11th attacks. The last time a November game was played in the postseason was 2017, when the Astros beat the Dodgers in Game 7 of the World Series on November 1st at Dodger Stadium.
