The Grand River Conference, over the past two days, has announced first-team, second-team, and honorable mention selections for the 8-man and 11-man divisions for the 2017 football season.
On the Eastern side of the GRC, the unbeaten Princeton Tigers dominated the first-team selections, with six named to the offensive side of the football, with five more selected to the All-GRC first-team defense. The Trenton Bulldogs had three players named first-team All-GRC offense, and three more selections to the defense.
The All-GRC East (11-man) first team offense includes the unanimous selection at quarterback, in Princeton senior Andrew Smith. Other unanimous selections are Princeton senior tight end Blaine Millburn, Putnam County senior running back Carson Quint, and Gallatin junior offensive lineman Graydee Rains. Princeton senior Calvin Berwanger joins Quint and Maysville senior Nick Evans as the first-team running backs. Gallatin’s Rains, on the offensive line, is joined by Princeton seniors Drew Dailey and Logan Bates, and Trenton seniors Mason Owen and Cole Schilling and junior Jadan Whitney. The first-team wide receivers are Princeton senior Clayton Sweetin and South Harrison senior Treyton Campbell, with Gallatin senior Caleb Boyd and Polo senior Patrick Covey making first-team in the “athlete” category.
First team defenders include four unanimous selections, with Gallatin’s Rains on the defensive line, along with Trenton’s Owen and Princeton’s Dailey. Trenton linebacker Jadan Whitney was a unanimous pick at his position. Others in the All-GRC East defense first team are Princeton defensive end Blaine Millburn, Gallatin defensive lineman Patrick McNickle, Princeton sophomore linebacker Cam Hartley, Gallatin senior linebacker Cole McBee, Maysville senior linebacker Nick Evans, Princeton senior defensive back Clayton Sweetin, Trenton senior defensive back Colton Colston, Princeton senior defensive back Tanner Coffman, Polo senior defensive back James Fleener, Gallatin sophomore defensive back Gaven Walker, South Harrison senior defensive back Treyton Campbell, and Putnam County senior defensive back Grant Sands.
The 1st-team punter is Gallatin senior Collin Beck, with Adrian Hernandez of Gallatin named the All-GRC kicker, and Patrick Covey of Polo the return specialist.
The second-team offense consists of Trenton quarterback Lathan Croy, Gallatin running back Corbin Toney, South Harrison running back Kinser Corbett, Trenton running back Carson Radcliff, and Milan running back Jamuel Pagan. The second-team wide outs are Princeton’s Garrett Enright and Trenton’s Colton Colston, with the tight ends being Justin Pribyl of Putnam County and Marcus Diaz of Milan.
The second-team linemen are Zane Hickman of Princeton, Luke Cory of Polo, Max Clark of South Harrison, and Austin Perkins of Putnam County.
On the defensive side of the football, All-GRC second-teamers are ends Luke Cory of Polo and Tom Crouse of Gallatin, tackles Logan Bates of Princeton, Garrett Jones of Polo and Austin Perkins of Putnam County. At the linebacker positions, second-team status went to Gallatin senior Noah Engel, Polo sophomore Wyatt Segar, South Harrison senior Grant Taylor, Putnam County senior Carson Quint, Princeton junior Cameron Jones, and Milan freshman Dominic Dabney.
The second-team defensive backs are Milan sophomore Ryan Dabney, Maysville junior Cy Uthe, and Gallatin senior Caleb Boyd. The second team punter is Milan’s Ryan Dabney, with Polo’s Patrick Covey the kicker, and Gallatin’s Caleb Boyd the return specialist.
The honorable mention selections are, on offense, linemen Patrick McNickle of Gallatin, Garrett Jones of Polo, Dalton Heil of Polo, and James Moon of Milan; quarterbacks Cole McBee of Gallatin and Levi Fowler of Putnam County; wide receivers Grant Sands of Putnam County and Cy Uthe of Maysville; athlete Tanner Coffman of Princeton; and return specialist Tanner Coffman of Princeton.
Honorable mention All-GRC defenders are end Maxx Clark of South Harrison, linemen Daniel Karns of South Harrison, Peyton Spurling of South Harrison, and Logan Caldwell of Maysville; linebacker Lathan Croy of Trenton; and defensive backs Logan Dunkin of Princeton and Hunter Dugan of Trenton.
On the Western (or 8-man) side of the Grand River Conference, the champion Worth County Tigers dominated first-team selections, as running back, kicker, and return specialist Tevin Cameron was joined by offensive lineman Drake Kinsella, offensive and defensive lineman Mason Hawk, and all-purpose Ryan McClellan, defensive lineman Devan Jackson, and defensive back Bryant McCord.
Other named first-team offense were quarterback Jacob Powelson and wide receiver, defensive end, and punter Caleb Patterson of North Andrew, running back Trey Schieber, defensive end John Shanks, and offensive lineman Kaden Bremer of Stanberry, King City defensive back Collin Breckenridge and wide receiver/linebacker River McCallon, and St. Joseph Christian defensive lineman Caleb Matlack.
Second-teamers are Pattonsburg wide receiver and defensive back Peyton Jones and quarterback Cole Dilley, St. Joseph Christian’s running back and linebacker Braden George, defensive end Simon Maize, and lineman Caleb Matlack, King City running back Jacob Moen, offensive lineman Liam Mitchell and defensive lineman Braden Gilbert, Stanberry wide receiver Brad Hailey, defensive lineman Zach Oldham, defensive back Cole Durbin, and linebacker Trey Schieber, North Andrew offensive and defensive lineman Logan Hughes and all-purpose Lance Streeby, in addition to Braymer offensive lineman Tanner O’Dell and linebacker Robbie Shoe.
The second-team specialists are kicker and punter Collin Breckenridge of King City and Albany return specialist Colton Coburn.
The All-GRC West honorable mention picks are King City quarterback Collin Breckenridge, Albany offensive and defensive lineman Blade Powers, Worth County receiver Caleb Parman, King City wide-out Anthony Saunders, Worth County running back Isaac Alarcon, Braymer all-purpose back Robbie Shoe, North Andrew linebacker Lance Streeby, and defensive back Ryan Atherton of Braymer.
The honorable mention special teams go to kicker Tysan Morrison of St. Joseph Christian, Braymer punter Keaton O’Dell, Braymer return specialist Ryan Atherton, and King City return specialist Jacob Moen.
