According to reports from PowerMizzou.com and KSDK in St. Louis, two players expected to be with the Mizzou football program this fall will not be able to enroll at the university until January 2017, at the earliest. Junior college transfer Nate Strong and wide receiver Harry Ballard are the two players of question. Both, according to Power Mizzou, are expected to spend the 2016 season with junior colleges.
Strong, a running back from East St. Louis, Illinois, spent last season at Hinds Community College in Mississippi. Expectations on February 3rd, signing day, was that Strong would be able to have his junior college requirements completed by June in order to join MU this summer. Apparently, that did not happen.
Ballard, out of McCluer North High School in St. Louis, was a late addition to Mizzou’s 2016 recruiting class, signing with the Tigers on April 1st, the official final day of the spring signing period. Academic issues, at the time, were believed to be a factor in schools hesitancy to move on Ballard, expected to be a wide receiver at the collegiate level.
