The Chillicothe Lady Hornets survived a stern test by Notre Dame de Sion, 55-47 on Wednesday night, in the semifinals of the Bulldog Classic at Kearney High School.
The Lady Hornets, back up to #3 in the state in Class 4, received a balanced scoring effort, as Katelyn Parkey had one of the finest games of her senior season with 17 points, while Hannah Jones and Karson Keithley contributed 12, and Whitley Clampitt 10 points to the winning cause.
Chillicothe was superb in closing out NDDS, particularly from the free throw line in the second half, hitting 19 of 24 in that time frame.
CHS will play the host Kearney Lady Bulldogs in the title game. Due to weather concerns, that game, scheduled for Friday night at 6:30, has been moved to Monday afternoon at 4 o’clock at Kearney High School.
The only loss of the season for the Lady Hornets continues to be the respectable defeat at Class 5 #3 ranked Columbia Hickman on Thursday, December 22nd. Chillicothe is 12-1 on the season, while De Sion falls to 3-6. The appearance in the championship game of the Bulldog Classic will be the Lady Hornets first since January 2003. The Lady Hornets last championship in the Bulldog Classic came in January 1995.
